Community Event Saturday to Help Eligible Working Families Tap California Earned Income Tax Credit

Eligible families and individuals must file taxes to claim hundreds of millions of dollars now available through California Earned Income Tax Credit Program (CalEITC)

LOS ANGELES – CalEITC4Me, the campaign to get the word out about the new State earned income tax credit (CalEITC) program, launches the tax season countdown with a community event in Los Angeles this Saturday, March 19. Families and individuals are invited to attend a Free Tax Prep and Resource Fair where tax professionals will be on hand to prepare and electronically file Federal and State taxes and provide screening to determine eligibility for Federal and State EITC. The new CalEITC program makes $380 million available this year to working families and individuals.

Nearly 175,000 Los Angeles County residents are eligible for the new California EITC and they could receive an average of $900 at tax time. Many families are also eligible for Federal EITC, which can put up to $6,000 back in their wallets. In the past, hard-working Californians have missed out on more than $1.8 billion in federal EITC and there is even more on the table this tax season with the addition of the new State EITC.

Families that made up to $54,000 in 2015 can make a free tax preparation appointment by calling (323) 604-1950.
