Tax Day is Around the Corner: Free Tacos and Taxes Event in Indio on Saturday
Free Tax Prep Events Helps Thousands Claim $$ from the Earned Income Tax Credit

Indio, CA – On Saturday, March 31st, CalEITC4Me, the outreach campaign for the CA Earned Income Tax Credit (Cal EITC) will join partners to host a Free Tax Prep event in Indio. The Cal EITC is an effective anti-poverty program that puts cash back in the pockets of working Californians. This year an unprecedented number of Californians have already claimed their earned credit, allowing them to afford some of their basic needs, such as food, housing, transportation, and healthcare. In the past, hard-working Californians have missed out on more than $2 billion in federal EITC and there is even more on the table this tax season with expansion of the new State EITC.

On Saturday, hundreds of people are expected to join volunteer tax professionals on hand to prepare and electronically file Federal and State taxes and provide screenings to determine eligibility for the earned income tax credit. The event is held in partnership with Community Action Partnership and Martha’s Village.
